O! is a sound installation that invites you to listen, experience and feel. The opera combines visual play with auditory harmony - an auditory and visual experience for the audience. The Opera Halle was looking for new concepts to surprise and invite the inhabitants of the city. For this purpose, the opera square was to be covered with installations. The goal of the assignment was the development of prototypes. The basic idea of the project O! is to make the sound of the opera experienceable to the outside, to let the scenery of the everyday life disappear and to feel once only the sound of the opera.
The spherical shape is deliberately chosen clearly geometric to make it easily understandable and accessible for viewers. Due to the different heights of the spheres, the installation can be used by young and old. One can sit or lie on it, test it curiously or just walk by.
With sustained pressure from above on one of the balls, the chant is played. As soon as the pressure is released, the song fades and ends. The viewers can therefore decide for themselves how long they want to play the sound. Each ball is assigned to a different song and by pressing several balls at the same time, a versatile sound collage can be created.
